Creating An E-book - You Can Do It!

by Sean Milea

While many people are familiar with what an e-book is, most do not know that e-books are considered by industry professionals as the best possible sales accelerator available today. An e-book that is well-written and marketed to an audience is very efficient and makes an excellent marketing tool. Unfortunately, many people feel that writing an e-book is a difficult, almost impossible task, and try to market their business without one. If this describes you, the following e-book strategies will help unravel the mystery of the e-book writing process.

Know your target readership and tailor your book to them, this increases the value of your book to your business, but to your customers also. You want your book to be so valuable to your customer that they wonder how they survived before they found it. Making your book this way is all about preparation and being prepared means planning your e-book ahead for aspects such as how much information to include, where to research it, how long it will be when finished, and how much you will spend to create it. Remember the old saying, the devil is in the details, so keep your eye on them. Start by choosing a topic of interest to the readership as this is an important aspect of the process, and it is much easier to do when you know your target audience.

An e-book is a unique item. It is not simply an article. An e-book will have a table of contents and will include chapter titles and page numbers. These essential items help you lay out your book and assist the reader by making the book more interesting. E-books can and should also use graphics. An e-book without some graphics can bore the reader into a deep sleep. When you plan your book, start thinking about the graphics you want to use. Keep track of what graphics and where they should be placed. Following a defined schedule will help you write and complete your e-book. Set time limits for yourself for completing each chapter. Follow your own timeline so that the book maintains an overall standard of quality. Next, develop a plan to market or sell your book. When you take the time to plan out each step of your book, you better assure that your book will be in the hands of reader, not just out there in cyberspace without an audience to read it.

While the task may seem overwhelming, the creation of an e-book is a relatively easy process that involves advanced planning before anything else. This pre-planning ensures that your e-book will be completed successfully. E-books are very useful as additional marketing or selling tools and can be very beneficial to give businesses an extra boost of success.
