Internet Traffic Building Techniques

by Sean Milea

There are two factors that aid in the success of your website as far as search engines go. The first factor is your ranking. The second is the volume of people visiting your site. If you know how to translate traffic into sales, big dollar signs of profit are in your future.

Here are 5 suggestions to increase your volume of traffic:

Encourage your visitors to come back. The easiest form of traffic to obtain is those individuals who had already visited your webpage. To entice them to come back, allow them to sign up for e-mail updates. You can also add RSS feeds for your websites. This way they will be informed on a daily basis.

Submit your site to DMOZ and Yahoo. DMOZ is a directory; Yahoo is a search engine and a directory combined. However, both of them kick their entries to numerous small directories and meta search engines. If you can get your site indexed with DMOZ and Yahoo, you traffic will multiply from not only their sites but also similar ones affiliated with them.

Excellent websites start with excellent content. You should post articles that are attention grabbers. The articles should be attention-getters. Readers who are interested in your content will link to your site. They will return again and again wanting to see what is new.

Be featured. There are directories and other websites that will feature listings for as long as conditions are met. Read their terms and apply them to your website so your listing will land at the topmost page or placed in the most conspicuous area.

Be sure that you are visiting the most updated blogs on the Internet. When visiting other people's blogs, be sure to leave a relevant comment. More visitors will be encouraged to visit your website if your thoughts or responses are solid.
